She finds one of the aliens kept alive in a pod and frees him. Rani learns that the alien species had built a thriving society but fled when the gunk started to appear.
Rani discovers the ruins of an alien civilization, and while Beck tries to dissuade her from investigating as there is no value in such relics, Rani begins searches through them. She discovers that a strange organic substance she calls gunk has polluted the environment, but removing the gunk with Pumpkin helps to restore the beauty of the planet. While Beck stays with the ship, Rani explores the planet and collect resources using her powered glove, Pumpkin. Scavengers Rani and Beck discover a strong power source from an uncharted planet, and decide to land to investigate. All findings will be documented in a logbook that players can read. When the gunk is removed, wildlife will thrive, and the player can use Rani's scanner to scan the environment and learn more about the world. Players may also need to fight against corrupted monsters. Rani is equipped with a power glove that can be used to suck in the gunk, effectively restoring the original environment. The alien planet features various biomes such as canyons, jungles and caves, but the terrains have been corrupted by a black slime-like parasite named the Gunk which is actively harming the environment and its wildlife. In the game, the player assumes control of Rani, a scavenger who has arrived on an alien planet with her partner Beck.
Clean it all up by holding RT to allow Becks to land.The Gunk is a story-driven action-adventure video game played from a third-person perspective. On the path that veers off to the right, you’ll spot some more gunk. Do so to reach the next location called Campsite. Eventually you’ll reach a spot where you have to crouch to squeeze yourself through the narrow opening. Make your way along the linear path following the purple crystals. On these ledges, scan the purple crystals to enter Luminescent Crystal into your encyclopedia. Hold RB to scan the Energy Fissure!Ĭontinue following the path to reach some ledges that you’ll be prompted to jump up. After it’s been collected you’ll spot a glowing pool that was hidden underneath the gunk. When prompted, hold down RT to slurp the gunk up! You’ll have to move your character around while holding RT to collect it all. You’ll automatically scan the Gunk as part of the story. Take the first available right to find your first scannable object, Luminescent Shards.Ĭontinue following the path and jump down to spot some gunk. Follow the path forward a short way and hug the right rock wall. Once you gain control of your character at the start of Chapter 1 in The Gunk, you’ll be tasked with exploring the area. If you obtain all the upgrades, you’ll receive the All In achievement!
